What an amazing first book， Of mist and shadow。 It was a true rollercoaster of emotions to learn everything Tessa has been through in her life， all the pain she has had to endure for herself。。 her loved ones and her village。 Yet even with the heart ache she remains strong and continues to fight for what is right。 Tessa is an amazing MC that drew me in from the first page。 Every good story need a villain and Oberon fits the nail right on the head I want to kill him very slowly。。 he has all my hat What an amazing first book， Of mist and shadow。 It was a true rollercoaster of emotions to learn everything Tessa has been through in her life， all the pain she has had to endure for herself。。 her loved ones and her village。 Yet even with the heart ache she remains strong and continues to fight for what is right。 Tessa is an amazing MC that drew me in from the first page。 Every good story need a villain and Oberon fits the nail right on the head I want to kill him very slowly。。 he has all my hate。 Finally there is a rather yummy MMC but is he good？ Bad？ Or a little in-between。 Fast pasted， heart wrenching， action packed， funny and super hot！！ This is on you don’t want to miss a MUST READ！！ 。。。more

4 1/2 starsI confess to be quickly drawn to book with the word "fae" in the description。 Once I saw this book involved some fae and fae royalty， I was quickly drawn in。Of Mist and Shadow is a wonderful start to a new series。 The world building felt effortless。 Sometimes you can get bogged down with that in a fantasy novel， but not in this case。 It blended in with the storyline in a way that felt very natural。 Also， there may be a plethora of fae books in the market right now， but this one had so 4 1/2 starsI confess to be quickly drawn to book with the word "fae" in the description。 Once I saw this book involved some fae and fae royalty， I was quickly drawn in。Of Mist and Shadow is a wonderful start to a new series。 The world building felt effortless。 Sometimes you can get bogged down with that in a fantasy novel， but not in this case。 It blended in with the storyline in a way that felt very natural。 Also， there may be a plethora of fae books in the market right now， but this one had some originality to it that I found refreshing。The main character， Tessa is easy to sympathize with。 The fae have created a rule in her village that is harsh and unforgiving。 The fae king expects complete obedience with the threat of death if you don't comply。 And he's proven time and again that he will follow up on that threat。 Tessa is put directly in his crosshairs when she's caught stealing his protected gemstones。 The punishment he plans to exact on her is one she will find unbearable。 In her quest to escape， will she find herself in the clutches of someone even more dangerous than him？ And what will she be willing to do to protect her family？This book kept me hooked from the beginning to the last page and then leaves the reader with a little cliffhanger at the end。 Hopefully the next one in the series won't be too far behind。Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC。 I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own。 。。。more

I was shocked at how fast I flew this book。 It was the perfect combination of fantasy and flirtation。 Tessa is a human who is done with the fae kings controlling and killing her people。 She has been mining forbidden gemstones to give to a someone simply known as "captain" in hopes that her efforts will make the mists that were created by the Mist King leave and provide an avenue of escape。 She is caught stealing precious and powerful gemstones by the fae King of Light。 Her punishment？ To become I was shocked at how fast I flew this book。 It was the perfect combination of fantasy and flirtation。 Tessa is a human who is done with the fae kings controlling and killing her people。 She has been mining forbidden gemstones to give to a someone simply known as "captain" in hopes that her efforts will make the mists that were created by the Mist King leave and provide an avenue of escape。 She is caught stealing precious and powerful gemstones by the fae King of Light。 Her punishment？ To become the mortal silent bride of the tyrannical King of Light。 Tessa has to decided who to trust in order to protect herself and the people she loves the most。 。。。more

I REALLY wanted to like this book。 And I really thought I would。 But I was so bored reading it。 I didn’t enjoy the banter between the main characters and I hated how dense Tessa seemed。 That being said the works building was really good。 And A LOT happened in the last 75 pages。 Tons of plot twists and betrayals。 I will give the second book a try。

I kept seeing the author post about this book and was super interested in the premises just based on quotes alone。 Of Mist and Shadow was a super fast read and I read it in one sitting。 The main character， Tessa， is brave， strong and would do anything for her family。 She has been chosen to be the fae kings bride after being caught stealing from him to break the Mist King's curse on the world。 Overall， this book was a really good starting point for the series。 The characters have room for improve I kept seeing the author post about this book and was super interested in the premises just based on quotes alone。 Of Mist and Shadow was a super fast read and I read it in one sitting。 The main character， Tessa， is brave， strong and would do anything for her family。 She has been chosen to be the fae kings bride after being caught stealing from him to break the Mist King's curse on the world。 Overall， this book was a really good starting point for the series。 The characters have room for improvement and I am interested to see how the story continues。 It is pretty predictable but I feel like most "captured by the fae king" books kind of are。 I really like the Mist King but I wish we got more POV chapters by him。 They were super short and sort of pointless since they didn't give you too much information that Tessa didn't already know。 If you're looking for a new fantasy fae book to pick up， I would pick this up but I wish I knew when book 2 came out！ Thank you NetGalley for giving me this ARC for my honest review。 。。。more
